Warehouse Digitalisation Strengthens Food Traceability
Productos Carey deployed Mecalux’s warehouse management system to synchronise production and logistics while supporting growth in international packaged food markets.

Mexican food producer Productos Carey manufactures processed foods including peppers, vegetables, beans and corn. As exports expanded to international markets such as the US, Spain, Germany and Australia, the company sought stronger control over logistics operations and greater visibility across inventory and production processes. Around 40% of production is exported.
Growth exposed the limitations of manual warehouse management, increasing the need for accurate product traceability, efficient material supply to production lines and improved coordination between logistics and manufacturing operations.
Warehouse management system integrates logistics with production
To address these challenges, Productos Carey implemented Easy WMS at its facility in Tala, Jalisco. The warehouse management system was introduced to automate inventory tracking, improve food traceability and integrate warehouse processes with production requirements.
The system connects with the company’s ERP software to synchronise warehouse operations with production orders. Materials required for manufacturing are identified automatically, enabling warehouse teams to prepare and deliver supplies without manual coordination.

Real-time inventory tracking improves operational control
The warehouse management system records all inventory movements continuously, from receiving goods to shipment. Storage locations are assigned automatically according to predefined criteria, while each movement is updated in real time.
This capability provides detailed visibility of batch information, SKU data and product locations, reducing discrepancies between physical inventory and digital records. Improved traceability has also strengthened readiness for audits and internal quality inspections.

FIFO-based material handling supports production continuity
The system generates optimised picking routes and directs operators to exact storage locations. Material selection follows the FIFO (first in, first out) method to ensure appropriate inventory rotation and compliance with quality requirements.
According to Productos Carey, the digital workflow has eliminated manual searching and reduced human error during warehouse operations, helping maintain uninterrupted supply to production lines.
Digitalisation supports scalable growth
Improved stock control, faster order preparation and integrated logistics processes have strengthened Productos Carey’s ability to expand production while maintaining visibility and traceability. The company considers warehouse digitalisation part of a wider operational transformation focused on improving production and logistics standards.
