At Interpack 2026, held from May 7 to 13 in Düsseldorf, Gampack introduced an automatic tray packaging machine for mini trays. The system is designed for secondary packaging of food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods, addressing requirements for material efficiency, format flexibility, and integration into automated end-of-line processes.
Reduced material usage with mini-tray concept
The system processes various packaging types, including beverage cartons, folding cartons, bottles, and jars, into multipacks of different formats. It is based on a patented mini-tray concept made of cardboard, which reduces material usage by up to 75% compared to conventional cluster packaging. In comparison to shrink film, the solution enables complete elimination of plastic.
The flat, customizable cardboard trays stabilize products during transport, prevent units from falling out, and maintain the visual integrity of the primary packaging.

Automatic format change and modular machine design
The tray packer features an automatic format change system, enabling rapid switching between different product and pack formats. Its modular design supports flexible configurations within a compact footprint and facilitates integration into existing packaging lines.
Integrated software functions, including data-driven analysis and predictive diagnostics, allow continuous monitoring of machine conditions and contribute to reducing unplanned downtime.
Drive technology and automation
The machine is equipped with energy-efficient motors and controlled by a Siemens automation system. This combination enables precise motion control and consistent packaging quality across varying production speeds.
Sustainability and performance in the digital supply chain
The system is designed to combine sustainability with industrial performance. In addition to reducing packaging material, it supports optimized logistics within the digital supply chain by providing stable multipacks with lower material input.
Gampack also offers additional plastic-free packaging solutions designed to meet requirements for product protection, mechanical stability, and process reliability.

Company profile and application areas
Based in Piacenza, Gampack specializes in secondary packaging systems and end-of-line automation. Since its founding in 2003, the company has installed more than 1,700 systems worldwide and expanded its portfolio with robotic solutions. Its systems are used in industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and pet food.
The solution was presented at Interpack 2026 in Hall 11, Stand G02, targeting manufacturers seeking to optimize packaging processes in terms of material usage, automation, and sustainability.
